"Close examination of historical records does, in fact, reveal that Throne's streets in the Sanctum and Sacred Spoke districts were in fact at one point literally paved in gold. Since the second conquest and the end of the universal war, most of it has been scraped away, but stray bricks do show up here and occasionally find a good price as collectors items.
